Temporary Miami Crypt Found For Venezuelan Ex-Pres
MIAMI (CBS4) -A court-appointed curator has recommended a site in Miami for the temporary crypt of former Venezuelan President Carlos Andres Perez.
Perez's final resting place remains the subject of a bitter legal battle between his estranged wife in Venezuelan and his longtime companion in Miami. The judge overseeing that case decided it was proper to temporarily entomb Perez's remains rather than leave them in a mortuary refrigeration unit.
The judge will make the final decision. The curator's report dated Monday estimates a cost of about $5,000 for the temporary crypt and services. The report also says the families want the least publicity possible for the interment.
Perez died Dec. 25 in Miami at age 88. An August trial is set on whether he will be buried in Venezuela or the U.S.
