Teen's Dream Of Becoming A Firefighter Comes True
MIAMI (CBS4) -- A Miami Dade Fire-Rescue crew welcomed a special guest to station 47 in Miami on Tuesday.
For 14 year old Alegandro Caceres this was a day he has spent his whole life dreaming about.
"He had a dream," said Frank Mirabal who is a firefighter with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. "I wanted to help make it come true."
The Glades Middle School student was born with muscular dystrophy. He's wanted to be a firefighter for as long as he can remember. Tuesday, that dream came true.
The seventh grader was welcomed by the crew at station 47 along with Miami-Dade County Fire Chief Herminio Lorenzo who told him 'our house is your house.'
"It's a special day," said Lorenzo. "What else can we give him but a good special day."
Alegandro spent the day going out on calls aboard the fire engine alongside a working crew. He was also named captain and helped give orders to all the firemen.
"He's not a kids of a lot of words," said Lucy Caceres who is Alegandro's Mom. "But if you see his body language and a certain smile, he's had it since yesterday!"
Caceres called her son's smile a miracle on the day his biggest dream came true.
