Teens Charged As Adults In Hallandale Beach Murder
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The Broward State Attorney's Office has filed adult criminal charges against two teens accused of beating and stabbing a man to death with a pen behind a Hallandale Beach auto parts store.
Juan Xolo, 17, and his cousin Jose Carlos Llano, 14, are charged with second degree murder in the death of 32-year old Gregory Hyppolite on December 12th, 2012.
The teens reportedly attacked Hyppolite, who is originally from New Jersey and moved to South Florida in 2003, after a deal involving a prostitute went awry.
When Hallandale Beach police arrived at the Advanced Auto Parts, 117 N. Federal Hwy., they allegedly found Llano and Xolo hovering over the body of Hyppolote striking him.
The teens told police that they agreed to pay Hyppolite $40 if he introduced them to a prostitute, according to the arrest report. But the prostitute turned the boys down because they only had $5 each on them.
Having done his part, Hyppolite demanded payment.
At one point, Llano went home to get more money, but returned carrying a laptop computer.
Hyppolite refused to take it and the fight broke out.
"Angela", a friend of Hyppolite who attended Thursday's hearing, said he was the father of a six year old and had lived in her home for the past several years. She added that he was a good father, a good son and someone who always tried to help someone in need.
