Teens Arrested, Accused Of Trying To Sell Stolen Pigeons

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Officers arrested a group of teens accused of trying to sell dozens of stolen pigeons in Hialeah.
Hialeah Police said the teens ranging from 14 to 17 years of age were trying to sell 39 stolen pigeons at a Hialeah pet shop on Wednesday.
Officers suspect the teens may be tied to five separate burglaries in Hialeah that happened this week. The pigeons were stolen from the cages kept in the homeowners' backyards.
The pigeons were being kept as pets used for sport and hobby. Officers say they are usually stolen and sold for a fraction of what they're worth.
Each bird was valued at $100, totaling about $3,900 for all 39 birds. Officers said all of the birds are safe and will be returned to their owners.
Meantime, the teens are now facing each a charge of dealing with stolen property.
