MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A teen who shot and killed a man at a northwest Miami-Dade gas station nearly four years ago has been sentenced to 30-years in prison.
The sentence was part of a plea deal in which Damu Bridgewater, 18, entered a plea of guilty. He also received 10 years of probation on release from prison.
In August, 2011, Bridgewater, who was 15 at the time, shot and killed 58-year-old Shahid Mahmood.
Mahmood, who had just finished up a late shift, was sitting in his car in front of his Amerika Gas Station at 15685 NW 22nd Avenue when Bridgewater walked up and shot him multiple times.
During an interview with police, Bridgewater said he shot Mahmood because he allegedly "had a beef with him."
Bridgewater, who lived just blocks away from Mahmood's gas station, was described as a regular customer.
