Teen Cited With Lying To Cops Over Rape Claim

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A Broward teen who claimed earlier this year taht she was snatched off a sidewalk and raped reportedly made the whole thing up.

About three weeks ago, the 16-year old told investigators that she was walking to school when a man abducted her in the 28-hundred block of NW 14th Street in Ft. Lauderdale. As she struggled to break free, the man forcibly dragged her away from the street to a nearby grassy area where he sexually assaulted her.

Within days, police passed out flyers with a sketch of the man based on the girl's description.

Investigators now say they don't the assault ever happened.

The teen has been referred to a civil citation program for a misdemeanor charge of filing a false police report.
