Tebow Is Broncos Starter Heading Into 2012
DENVER (CBSMiami) – Denver Broncos executive John Elway said Monday that quarterback Tim Tebow had "earned" the right to be the starting quarterback heading into training camp for the 2012 season.
But, just because Tebow is the starter heading into training camp, that doesn't necessarily mean that Tebow will be the starting quarterback when the season begins.
"The passing game wasn't where we wanted it to be," Elway said Monday. "Those are the strides we have to make. We know Timmy will work his tail off."
Elway said the Broncos will be in the market for a quarterback during the offseason. It will most likely be a veteran quarterback and/or a late-round draft pick.
Elway said he wants a Tom Brady-type quarterback at the helm for the Broncos. Tebow hasn't shown the ability to consistently throw the football, as he was under 50 percent completion rate for multiple games this season.
