Tebow Close To Starting
DENVER (CBS4) - When the Denver Broncos traded to select former Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, many speculated that he would never become a starting quarterback in the NFL. However, it looks like Tebow is set to start for the Broncos on Sunday.
Interim Broncos head coach Eric Studesville hasn't officially declared Tebow the starter for Sunday's game, but he's taken the majority of first-team reps in practice this week and starter Kyle Orton hasn't thrown the ball in the last two days.
If Tebow starts, it'll be the culmination of the Josh McDaniels era in Denver, even though McDaniels has already been fired. It also signifies the Broncos are preparing to implode the franchise after McDaniels' miserable stint in Denver.
Tebow drew as much criticism as he did praise during the draft process. He'll be facing a stout Oakland Raiders defense and won't be able to rely on his legs to get him out of trouble. If he does, Richard Seymour and Rolando McClain may rearrange his dental work.
