Taxi Driver Robbed At Gunpoint

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) -- New surveillance tape shows a terrifying stop for a man who had driven his taxicab from Boynton Beach to Northwest Miami-Dade.
Dashcam video from the victim's taxicab shows the suspect holding a black semi-automatic handgun to the head of 58-year-old taxicab driver Guerdy Rosalva of Boynton Beach and threatening to shoot and kill him.

"Give me the money or I will shoot you right now," said the suspect on the tape. Rosalva complied and gave him his cash.
Now, Miami-Dade Police officials said there is something very distinctive about the suspect.
He has two tattoos on his hands that say "Dade County."
"He has his gun in his right hand and you can see between the knuckles the word Dade," said Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta.
Zabaleta tells CBS4's Peter D'Oench that when the suspect shows his left hand, you can see the word "County."
"This is something out of the norm," said Zabaleta, "and this is why we are confident someone out there knows who he is. You hear him saying do you want some of this, which perhaps means some of the gun or the bullets. He holds the gun at arms-length from his face. He could have pulled the trigger. There could have been a discharge."
"You hear him on this tape making demands for money," says Zabaleta.

The robbery happened at 12:46 a.m. on September 11th near the corner of N.W. 140th Terrace and N.W. 12th Ave.
Zabaleta said a female passenger in Boynton Beach had persuaded Rosalva to drive her to the Northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood and told him her boyfriend would pay for the trip when they got there.
"The taxicab driver was asked the amount by the boyfriend and he stated he would be right back," said Zabaleta. "When he returned with the money, that's when the subject emerged and open the door on the passenger side and held out the gun."
Zabaleta said the suspect took the cash and fled on foot. Fortunately, no one was injured.
It's not known if the suspect had an accomplice or if this crime was planned.
The incident could have been tragic.
"He's dangerous," said Zabaleta. "He will do anything and before there is another victim we need to make sure this man is behind bars."
