Taste Of The Town Gets Real Cheesy At Daily Melt
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - It's the ultimate in comfort food at the Daily Melt in Midtown—a favorite of loyal customers who've been coming to the quick dining spot ever since it opened six months ago.
At the helm of the restaurant is the James Beard Award winning Chef Allen Susser, whose former namesake restaurant was in Aventura and well-known as a divine dining spot for decades.
"For 25 years it's been Chef Allen's high-end food with great quality. I still take that quality of service and detail and I put it into Daily Melt and it has that quality but you do not pay that type of price," said Chef Allen.
In fact, each sandwich on the menu is just under $7.
"Daily Melt is a casual place to eat comfort food and I think with everything going on in today's world, people want something they can come to that's casual and comfortable, fresh-cooked and seasonal," Chef said.
The menu is peppered with classics, like a tuna melt and the simple grilled cheeses, but also features special melts like Chef Allen's signature, "the Cheffy specials," as he calls it.
Not as simple as a classic grilled cheese, Chef Allen prepares a white truffle burger sandwich with bacon.
With two slices of sourdough bread, lightly dressed with truffle butter, cheddar cheese added along with bacon and tomato and then the whole thing is pressed together and melted to goodness.
Every sandwich comes with a shot of soup—and there are three to choose from. Also, accompanying the sandwiches are the chef's homemade pickles. They're everywhere and in all flavors, from classic sea salt to lemon ginger and many more.
Two buck Tuesdays offers a grilled cheese and a shot of soup for $2.
The Daily Melt is certainly the cheesiest place you'll visit in South Florida—and that's a good thing.
