MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Welcome to Grille 401 off Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

This modern and fresh space boasts two bars with two floors and kicks off every night with a happy hour and moves into late night fun.

"We wanted something that was open warm and comfortable. Obviously, we have windows to open up to allow a breeze to come in. Happy hours are fantastic," said Chef Rick Schwager.

The menu is new American Fusion cuisine and at the helm is Chef Schwager.

"We have the best food on the block. There is something here for everyone. We have pasta, seafood, steak and we got it all here. We truly have the best food on the block," said Chef Schwager.

Chef Schwager will be one of 22 chefs participating in John Offerdahl's Broward Health Gridiron Grill-off Food & Wine Festival taking place this Saturday at the Pompano Beach Amphitheater. It's the seventh year for the charity event that support's local charities which, "feed the needs of kids in crisis."

Top chefs, former and current football players will come together for the event. Chef Rick is coming back for his third year.

"John Offerdahl is a tremendous guy. What he does for charity, what he does for the community is unbelievable and even though we should have won it the last two years, and we will win this year, he brings out the best of the best," said Chef Schwager.

For the Gridiron Grill-Off event, Chef Schwager will be making up his Asian-style short rib kabob that's fired over a hickory and oakwood grill. It's served with an Asian couscous and wilted spinach.

"As you can see, it's a fall-off-your-bone short rib. It has just the right amount of kick. This is going to be fun at the event," said CBS4's Lisa Petrillo after tasting the dish.

Next up was Chef Schwager's jumbo lump crab cakes.

"It's all jumbo lump crab meat served with remoulade sauce that has 19 ingredients. We serve it with a kale salad which is freshly chopped kale with roasted croutons," said Chef Schwager.

"The crab is so fresh and delicious and the sear on the outside is perfect," said Petrillo after tasting the dish.

The final item on the menu was the Barbecue Chicken Flatbread with grilled onions, mozzarella, and gruyere cheese.

"Look how light it is. It just slides off. It's a perfect appetizer. It's a perfect side dish or meal," said Petrillo.

The Gridiron Grill-off Event is on Saturday, November 12th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Click here for more info.
