Taste Of The Town: Beach Bar At Newport Pier

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Beach Bar at the Newport Pier in Sunny Isles Beach is a place where you can savor surf, sand and sumptuous food.
"Half of the dining is outside, one-third is covered and you can sit on the couch, over the ocean, and have white wine, sangria, mimosa or have dinner out there. It's amazing," said owner Paul Flanigan.
Much of the outside seating is about six feet directly over the ocean.
"They call this the Riviera of South Florida - Sunny Isles Beach. This facility was knocked down during Hurricane Wilma and we rebuilt this. It took seven years to build because of all the codes. This is an amazing venue, an amazing spot," Flanigan said.
The vibe of Beach Bar is ultra cool and casual with an air of style and sophistication.
"It's a beach environment, we show surfing videos. You walk in here and you really feel like your on the beach, it's not fancy, it feels like it fits on the beach," said Flanigan.
As for the food, Flanigan knows it well. He has more than half a dozen eateries under his belt including The Quarterdeck restaurants in Broward. His dream for Beach Bar was to have a taste of everything on the menu.
"We have the number one sushi bar in north Palm Beach County called The Dive Bar so we have great sushi here and a full raw bar with various types of oysters. Then we have a full kitchen with a Houston-esque type of menu," Flanigan said.
So let's get this beach party started. We began with the Ciopino which is best described as a seafood stew with lobster, muscles, fish, shrimp and pasta.
"This dish is filled with a potpourri of delicious seafood and it's light and filled with flavor." said CBS4's Lisa Petrillo.
Next, a double stack of chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and topped with a balsamic glaze.
"The chicken is super moist and softness of the mozzarella is delicious and the sauce on top gives it a great kick," Petrillo said.
The Lobster Roll is rolling in lobster!
"There's a crunch that's inside this super sweet lobster roll and meat is so succulent and delicious this is beautiful thing," said Petrillo.
Beach Bar at the Newport Pier is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
