Tannehill Limited In Practice, Moore May Start
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was on the practice field Wednesday morning, albeit in a limited basis. Tannehill has been nursing a knee injury since the first quarter of last Sunday's blowout victory over the New York Jets.
Tannehill was in the process of being sacked by Jets outside linebacker Calvin Pace when he suffered the injury. An MRI on Monday confirmed no major damage to the leg, but Tannehill's status for Sunday's game in Indianapolis is unknown.
Luckily for the Dolphins, they have a more than capable backup quarterback in Matt Moore. Coming into the game in relief of Tannehill last week, Moore completed 11 of 19 passes for 131 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions in a little more than three quarters of work.
If Tannehill is healed enough to play, he will start against the Colts' Andrew Luck, this year's number one overall pick in the NFL Draft. Tannehill was selected with the eighth pick by the Dolphins.
This season, Luck has thrown for 1,971 yards, completed 56 percent of his passes and thrown eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. Overall, Luck has a quarterback rating of 74.6 this season. He's guided the Colts to a 4-3 record including an impressive win over the Green Bay Packers.
Tannehill has thrown for 1,472 yards, completed 59 percent of his passes and has thrown four touchdowns against six interceptions. Tannehill's numbers have translated to a 75.8 quarterback rating and he too has the Dolphins at 4-3 on the season.
