Tannehill Injury Not Believed To Be Serious
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was scheduled to undergo an MRI Monday on his injured left quad and knee. Tannehill, the team's starter, injured his leg in the first quarter of Miami's blowout victory over the New York Jets.
Tannehill, who has started every game this season, was injured on a play when he was sacked by Jets outside linebacker Calvin Pace. A report from Peter King of SI.com said the injury was a left quad and knee contusion.
Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said he was optimistic about Tannehill's potential for a quick recovery.
"Yeah, he was optimistic on the plane," Philbin told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel on Tannehill. "You would hope your player are [optimistic]."
The Dolphins' offense didn't miss a beat when Tannehill went down. Backup quarterback Matt Moore came into the game and was 11-19 for 131 yards and one touchdown pass en route to a 96.6 quarterback rating.
With or without Tannehill, the Dolphins will be on the road again this weekend to play rookie Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. The Fins should be favored to win the game on the back of its strong defense and rapidly improving offense.
