MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — The Miami Dolphins are hoping their offensive line will be a much improved unit in 2015 and the team took a step in shoring up its depth on Thursday.
Tackle Jason Fox has signed a two-year contract to remain with the Dolphins rather than become a free agent next week.
Fox is going into his fifth NFL season and his second with the Dolphins, and he has five career starts. He played in nine games last year and started the final two games.
"We are excited that we have reached an agreement with Jason to keep him with the Miami Dolphins," said General Manager Dennis Hickey. "He was a very positive addition for us last season both on the field and in the community."
Fox was a fourth-round draft pick by the Lions in 2010 following a successful college career with the University of Miami.
Last season Fox played for the veteran's minimum but his contract will pay him $2.5 million over two seasons, according to Pro Football Talk.
The 6-6. 310-pound Fox has played in 22 NFL games and made five starts.
In his first season with Miami, Fox was named the Nat Moore Community Service Award winner, which is given to the Dolphins player recognized for his involvement in the South Florida community. The winner of this award is chosen by the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
