Tropical Storm Arthur Drifting North Off East Coast Of Florida

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Arthur, the first tropical storm of the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season, is getting a little better organized as it swirls off central Florida's eastern coastline.

At 11 p.m., the storm was located 90 miles east-southeast of Cape Canaveral. The storm is moving north at 2 mph and maximum sustained winds are about 50 miles per hour.

A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for the east cost of Florida from Ft. Pierce to Flagler Beach.

Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to continue moving in northwestward motion on Tuesday followed by a turn to the north on Wednesday. On the forecast track it will remain offshore and move east of the Florida coastline during the next day or so.

The system is forecast to pass East of northeastern Florida on Wednesday.

Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to produce one to three inches of rain, mainly across the Eastern Florida Peninsula. Rainfall amounts of up to four inches are expected over the northwest Bahamas; some areas could see up to six inches of rain.
