SUV Drives Through Home's Wall

POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – A Ford Explorer got up close and personal with the residents of a home in Pompano Beach Monday evening.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, the Ford Explorer crashed into the home on the 300 block of Southwest 2 Street, leaving just the rear end of the SUV outside of the house.

The SUV was carrying a 4 year old girl in the front seat. Authorities said the driver, German Hueso, 30, left the child in the SUV and took off running after the vehicle drove into the home.

Hueso was later arrested and charged with Driving Under The Influence, Child Endangerment, and Driving Without A License.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the child suffered minor injuries and was taken to Broward Health North Medical Center. She was released several hours later. Police say the girl is the daughter of Hueso's common-law wife.

"Fortunately the child was not seriously injured very lucky for her because she was found in the front seat unrestrained, the airbags had deployed," said BSO spokesman Mike Jachles. "It was a very serious impact and could've been much worse."

Hueso was also taken to the hospital to treat a head laceration he sustained in the crash.

It seems a stroke of luck prevented the homeowner from being injured. He told police that he had been sleeping on the couch, in the path of the SUV, but woke up moments before to take a phone call outside.

"For somebody to do this, pretty stupid. And now he's gonna pay the price and face the charges,"said Jachles.
