Police Confirm 'Remains Of Female Found' In Search For Missing Andreae Lloyd
SOUTH DADE (CBSMiami) – On Wednesday afternoon, a senior law enforcement source familiar with the investigation on missing Andreae Lloyd told CBS4 News that investigators have discovered remains of a female found inside a large metal box typically found on the back of a pickup truck.
The identity of the woman has not been made by officials. The source tells CBS4 News the container was discovered by police canines searching a wooded area near where Lloyd's boyfriend's pickup truck was discovered and where Lloyd was picked up for questioning.
Right before 7 p.m., police confirmed that human remains belonging to a woman had been found.
Miami-Dade police have detained the boyfriend of the missing woman, who was attacked and abducted from her job, after he was spotted by one of her family members in a heavily wooded area in South Miami-Dade on Wednesday.
According to Miami-Dade police spokesman Angel Rodriguez, the family member called police after spotting him in the area of SW 137th Avenue and 328th Street, near the Homestead Miami Speedway, which has now been sealed off by investigators.
As part of the investigation into Lloyd's abduction, police searched the area using their aviation team, ATV's, and K-9. During that search, a cadaver dog alerted to something in a heavily wooded area, said Rodriguez, but they don't know what it is.
He explained the area is so dense, "the dog could get in but it's difficult for people to get in." He added, "We have to rely on additional resources to see what the dog alerted to."
Lloyd, who is pregnant with her third child, was abducted early Tuesday morning.
"We continue to remain hopeful but continue to look for Andreae" said Rodriguez.
Rodriguez said that finding her is a "priority" and he also appealed for the community's help.
Manuel Lloyd said his niece followed Andreae's boyfriend since she went missing.
When she spotted him on Wednesday, Manuel and other family members approached him together, as he was pacing next to this truck that was stuck off the side of the road.
"He seemed nervous. You have a young man in bushes not knowing what to expect. But at that moment he was just walking around. My nephew then called on him and said where you going. And he took his phone and said who you calling."
Investigators did find the boyfriend's vehicle in the area, but Andreae's car has not been located.
She has a white Honda Civic with Florida tag #Y650DL which police say her attacker dragged her into and drove away.
Her father, Arnold Lloyd, said police showed him a Ring camera video of the attack.
"She opened the door for him. They attacked her, threw her down, put her in her own car and drove away," Lloyd told CBS4's Peter D'Oench, but he said it was poor video and he couldn't tell who it was.
A source told CBS4 she knew her attacker and was comfortable opening the door at the group home for him.
Her father is praying she's found safe.
"She got two babies, one and five, and they need their mom. They need to see their mom," Arnold Lloyd said. "She checks on me every day. She checks on me, she says 'Pops you need anything.' She doesn't live with me. She lives with her boyfriend," he said. "That's my heart. She's my everything."
Lloyd's father said he doesn't understand why her boyfriend was out there.
"Now he is out there looking for her. What gives him the right to come here and look for her at this spot by himself," he said.
