Suspected Road Rage Caught On Camera
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A suspected case of road rage in a Ft. Lauderdale neighborhood was caught on camera. Now police are searching for one of the drivers who fired several shots at a man who had been following him.
It happened on June 20th, around 10:45 a.m., in the 1400 block of NE 56th Street.
The driver of a Ford F-250, who does not want his name published, said he just pulled off Dixie Highway on NE 56th St. when something strange happened. He said he was following a tan BMW for a short distance when it pulled into a driveway. The driver quickly got out as the truck passed.
He then pulled a gun and fired at the truck as it drove away. The driver of the BMW then got back in the car and left.
The driver of the F-250 said he was stopped about a block away and didn't realize what was going on when he heard the three shots. It was when he looked in the rearview mirror and saw the man pointing a smoking gun at his truck that he realized he was the target. Thankfully, he wasn't hurt but one of the bullets did graze his truck.
The said he was really concerned because the man opened fire in a residential neighborhood and he could have shot children as they were playing outside. He added that he didn't know where the three rounds fired at him ended up.
Surveillance video captured the shooting and an image of the driver who police said was a black male who was about 5'5" and 180 pounds. At the time of the shooting he was wearing a blue shirt with jeans and his hair was pulled up in a blue stocking.
Anyone who can identify him is asked to Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
