Suspected Marijuana Grow House Busted In Weston
WESTON (CBSMiami) - The Broward Sheriff's Office says the Broward County Drug Task Force busted a suspected marijuana grow house at a 7,000 square foot mansion in Weston on Friday afternoon.
BSO detectives and deputies descended on the home at 451 Ranch Road around 4 p.m. Friday. CBS4's cameras rolled as four men were led from the home in handcuffs. Also captured on CBS4's camera were images of dozens of marijuana plants lined up outside the home. In all, BSO said they found 100 marijuana plants and another 50 pounds of processed marijuana plants on the property.
Neighbors were shocked by the sight of undercover officers combing the house down the block.
"It's absolutely surprising," said Daniel Santos. "I can never imagine they would have marijuana drug dealing here."
Neighbors said they never saw anything unusual at the stately home and that even a community like Weston isn't immune from crime.
"You feel like you live in a safe community but apparently there are drug dealers doing crime in the area," said Raul Palacios.
BSO says the men arrested will face charges of trafficking in marijuana.
