Robbery Suspect Arrested In Biscayne Blvd. Incident
MIAMI - (CBS4) - A suspected robber was arrested Thursday night after wreaking havoc along Biscayne Boulevard during rush-hour traffic.
Police had blocked off the area between 69th and 71st Streets as they searched for a suspected robber who had been hiding out in a motel room. Police say he barricaded himself at the Saturn Motel, called 911 and threatened to harm a woman and a child inside.
The scene along the 7100 block of Biscayne Boulevard cleared by 8 p.m. after police were able to arrest 32-year-old Vincent Williams Chester. He was wanted for a strong-armed robbery, police said.
The events unfolded shortly before 5 p.m. Police say they had been chasing Chester when he darted inside a Miami motel room.
That's where he met up with a woman and her 1-year-old child. Police say the woman was arrested on an unrelated charge and the child was turned over to the Department of Children and Families.
Police requested the SWAT unit to back them up.
