Suspect In Custody Following Broward Deadly Shooting
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The Broward County Sheriff's Office has one person in custody following a deadly shooting near Fort Lauderdale.
The shooting took place about 8:30 Sunday night in the 2000 block of Southwest 50th Avenue in Central Broward County. According to Mike Jachles with Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, a gunman shot into a crowd of people gathered outside a home.
According to officials, one person was transported by Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center where he died.
"When I heard, oh my God, somebody killed or somebody killed somebody. I heard the gun but I don't know what happened," said neighbor, Demaris Marenco.
According to BSO, after the shooting, the gunman got into a vehicle and left the scene. A deputy responding to the scene spotted the vehicle a couple miles away in Plantation and stopped it.
Jachles said the shooter got out of the car and ran, but a K-9 caught him and he was taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital.
Police have not identified the shooter or the victim.
The investigation is ongoing.
