Teen Arrested In Coconut Grove Home Invasion
COCONUT GROVE (CBSMiami) - Two men, during an early morning home invasion on October 26 in Coconut Grove, demanded belongings from victims, eventually shooting one man in the stomach. Police, as of Wednesday, arrested one subject, the second, however, remains at large.
The victim, Jean Paul Lausell, remains in ICU in Ryder Trauma at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Miami Police Department have arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with Saturday's home invasion on Margaret Street in Coconut Grove.
A crime scene technician, according to the arrest affidavit, that responded to the scene fingerprinted inside the home to which were matched to the 17-year-old, according to Miami Police.
A second suspect, police say, remains at large.
According to MPD, Lausell and his family arrived at their home on Margaret Street in Coconut Grove after a Halloween party around 3 a.m. Saturday.
Upon arriving, as they were off-loading items from their car into the home, they were approached by two masked and armed men, demanding their money and jewelry.
Lausell heard the commotion and ran in the front of the home to confront one of the subjects, according to authorities.
A struggle between the man and Lausell occurred and Lausell, authorities say, was knocked to ground and shot in the abdomen area.
The other victims, who were seeking refuge in the garage, came out to help Lausell but the gunmen pointed their weapons at them and continued to demand their property.
Both subjects then fled the home.
The suspect that has been arrested has been charged with one count of armed occupied burglary with a battery therein, one count of attempted felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, five counts of false imprisonment, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and one count of possession of a firearm by adjudged delinquent.
