Surfer Bitten By Shark Off New Smyrna Beach
NEW SMYRNA BEACH (CBS4) - A day of fun on the water turned into something else for one surfer after he was bitten be shark of New Smyrna Beach.
The 49-year man said he was in just a couple of feet of water, heading back to shore Friday afternoon, when he felt the stabbing pains. Beach patrol said he suffered minor injuries and did not need to be hospitalized. Based on the size of the wounds, officials said it was a small shark, probably only a foot or two in length.
This is the first reported shark attack of the year in Volusia County.
