Super Bowl Tickets Scam Suspect Arrested In Coral Springs
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami/AP) – A man accused of scamming a diehard San Francisco 49ers fan out of thousands of dollars with an offer of Super Bowl Tickets was taken into custody earlier this week in Coral Springs.
Alameda County sheriff's officials said Robert Pham, 37, was arrested on suspicion of false pretenses.
Before the big game last month, Sharon Osgood and her boyfriend, Dan Briggs, had wired $5,900 to a person after seeing a posting on Craigslist advertising Super Bowl tickets for sale.
But when a FedEx package arrived for Osgood, instead of the tickets, the package contained pictures of Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco, along with a taunting note that said, "Enjoy the game!!!! Go Ravens!!! LOL."
"There was still all that anger about how could somebody do this and just think it was OK and send a note like that," said Osgood when she was told of the arrest. "Now it's kind of come to closure."
Alameda County detectives said during their investigation they found 15 different addresses and multiple bank accounts for Pham, leading them to believe he had scammed others as well.
