Super Bowl Generating Plenty Of Odd Bets
NEW YORK (CBSMiami) – The Super Bowl is still a little more than a week away, but gamblers are finding plenty of things to bet on before and during the game.
Bovada provided CBSMiami some of the things that it's allowing people to bet on and the list is full of everything from weather, to the national anthem, to even the power at the stadium (a salute to last year's blackout game).
The over/under for the temperature at kickoff has been set at 34 degrees Fahrenheit and oddsmakers put the over/under for the lowest temperature during the game of 31 degrees Fahrenheit. There's also 25-1 odds of the power going out in the stadium during the game.
The National Anthem has even odds on the singer, Renee Fleming, taking over two minutes and 30 seconds to sing the national anthem. There are also odds on whether or not Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno will cry during the National Anthem.
Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning's favorite audible call at the line of scrimmage, "Omaha," has been given an over/under of 27.5 times said in the game. Speaking of the Manning's, oddsmakers gave an over/under of Archie Manning being shown 2.5 times and Eli Manning shown 3.5 times during the broadcast.
But wait, there's still plenty more that you can lay your money down on during the game.
Oddsmakers believe Fox's Pam Oliver will be the first sideline reporter seen after kickoff, knocking off Erin Andrews. The odds also are roughly even with which coach, John Fox or Pete Carroll, will be mentioned first after kickoff.
How about some bets on what the announcers will say first? The over/under on number of times the "12th man" is referenced during the game is set at 2.5 and the over/under for the mentions of "Beast Mode" when referring to Marshawn Lynch is set at two.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruno Mars will perform at halftime of the game and there are bets on what song will be first and will the two acts perform together. Odds are roughly even that at least one member of the Chili Peppers will be shirtless during the game (our guess is Flea).
When it comes to the Gatorade bath after the game, the odds right now are on it being clear Gatorade or water, just in case you wanted to wager on it. Also, oddsmakers believe the Super Bowl MVP will mention his teammates first in his speech followed by God.
Finally, the over/under on the TV rating for the game is set at 47.5 with the over/under for viewers of the game sitting at 112 million viewers.
