SunPass Launches iPhone App
OCOEE (CBSMiami) – If you've ever wanted to keep track of your SunPass account from your iPhone or iPad, now there's an app for that.
Florida's Turnpike officials announced that SunPass, the state-of-the-art electronic tolling system, now offers a recently-launched free iPhone/iPad application.
Florida Secretary of Transportation Ananth Prasad said that the introduction of the iPhone app continues a tradition of SunPass innovations, beginning with the implementation of electronic toll collection and the SunPass website in 1999.
"The addition of the iPhone app keeps the Department of Transportation at the forefront of tolls technology by combining ease and convenience of use for the millions of SunPass customers that travel Florida's toll roads and bridges every day," he said.
SunPass customers will be able to view transponder/account activity for 90 days, add, edit or delete vehicle information, and replenish their account with their previously stored credit card.
Turnpike Executive Director Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti noted that "About 900,000 customers access the SunPass website to view their accounts every month. In an increasingly mobile society, it makes sense to offer our customers as many choices as possible to self-service their SunPass account. "
To download the new iPhone/iPad app, go to the Apple App Store and search for SunPass.
