Subtropical Storm Melissa Takes Turn To Northeast
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Subtropical storm Melissa has taken a turn to the northeast as it continues its trek north across the central Atlantic.
At 4 p.m. the center of the storm was about 645 miles east of Bermuda.
Melissa had maximum sustained winds of 65 mph as it moved to the northeast at 16 mph.
There are no watches or warnings posted for this storm.
The National Hurricane Center forecasts the Melissa will increase in speed over the next day or so. Melissa is also expected to transition into a tropical storm late Tuesday into Wednesday.
Large swells caused by Melissa will continue to impact Bermuda, portions of the Northern Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola and the southeastern Bahamas for the next couple of days.
