MIAMI (CBSMiami) – If it's got anything to do with science, a group of South Florida students at Archimedean conservatory school are on it.
The kids have been putting hours every day into building, mixing and experimenting.
"Staying after school every day, staying up late," said seventh grader Joseph Luis.
"We put a lot of time. At home we work every single day up until like 1 in the morning," said student Camila Cordero.
And it's paid off.
The after school science team has won dozens of medals and quite a few trophies in regional competitions.

Now the school will represent the state in the National Science Olympiad.
"I feel really excited and I'm very happy to myself and my friends because this shows that we are smart enough to represent the whole entire Florida," said Cordero.
They'll compete in everything from forensic testing to lab events, building, and geology.
"I want to follow what my brother did with this. He stared at the school and he was extremely shy and then he did this and he was the happiest boy ever. So now I wanna be like him and do the same," said sixth grader Guadalupe Obayi.
Some participate in the program for the camaraderie.
"I like everybody in here. I like being with friends and talking to them after school and working with them," said eighth grader Jasmine Stephenson.
Others are looking towards their future careers.
"This could help me improve in my science knowledge because when I grow up, I want to be a geologist or a dentist so this could help me improve my knowledge on what I wanna be when I grow up," said Cordero.
"I want to be an engineer and this will really help me a lot," said seventh grader Loannis George.
Based on their work ethic, the teams overall hypothesis is that at they'll blow away the competition.
"Most probably were gonna win first place," said Cordero.
Thirty of the students will head to Lincoln, Nebraska on May 14th for the National Science Competition.
