Stolen Corvette Crashes Into Miami House; Driver Disappears
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A police pursuit ended in a wild wreck into a home and police are still looking for the driver of the stolen car involved in the crash.
According to police, the stolen black Corvette is linked to a robbery in Opa-locka and police were chasing it when it went through shrubs and hit the house at Northwest 74th Street at 17th Avenue in Miami.
"I was in my back bedroom watching a movie and heard this loud noise," homeowner Richard Campbell told CBS4 News. "All I saw was smoke over here. I didn't know what was in there. I thought it was a fire that started or something. Seems like it went airborne and started hitting the front of the house and then went all the way to the back."
Whoever was in the mangled Corvette managed to get away before police could grab him.
It's possible, the driver was injured in the crash.
The owner of the home wasn't hurt but he's not sure what will happen to the house since he's going through a foreclosure process.
