Stella McCartney Opens First Florida Store At Bal Harbour
BAL HARBOUR (CBS4) - As the daughter of Paul and Linda, It's safe to say Stella McCartney grew up around music.
But it wasn't the music that called out to her, it was hemlines and necklines
After working for years in the fashion biz, Stella opened up her own brand name collection in 1991.
Now her namesake store, "Stella McCartney", operates 21 free standing stores all over the world, including her newest and first in Florida at Bal Harbour Shops.
"When I was younger and I really wanted to be a fashion designer, I remember all the shopping bags and they would say London, Paris and New York and I never knew what it meant. Then, I realized they have stores in those cities and I thought that's amazing! Now to have stores in those cities and here in Miami. It's an amazing and incredible thing," said McCartney.
McCartney told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo that she is still amazed that stars wear her clothing.
"Having celebs wear your clothes is a fantastic thing and it attracts other women to your product. But, at the end of day, that's not the thing that drives me. It's is everyday normal human beings wearing the clothes," she explained.
A lifelong vegetarian, The 41 year-old mother of four does not use any leather or fur in her designs which includes, handbags, sunglasses, clothes, kids, and more.
"I try and work instinctively. If something feels right for the brand I get in then I explore it. I also do sports performance with Adidas. So yeah we do a lot stuff. Hopefully more to come," she explained.
Recently Stella launched Lily, a perfume named after her mom, Linda, sold at specialty stores like Sephora.
"It's a new perfume that's inspired by a nickname that my dad had for my mom: Linda I Love You … Lily," she said. "It has a lot of romance attached to it. At the same time, I try to make it very individual and very pure."
This busy wife and mother of seems to have inherited the drive of her famous parents and something else, as Petrillo pointed out.
"I see your mom's eyes in yours," said Petrillo.
"Oh Wow, that's so nice. Thank you. Thanks so much," Stella said.
