State Senate Hops On New Bill

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami.com) - The Florida Senate got hopping on a new resolution that will definitely keep you "ribbet"ed.

The Senate unanimously approved a bill to name the barking tree frog as the official state amphibian.

And if that wasn't enough, the bill's sponsor, Steve Oelrich of Gainesville, showed a picture of the frog and serenaded the chamber with a recording of one of the frogs "barking."

A Senate staff analysis, yes they really conducted one, found the barking tree frog is one of the largest frogs in the United States. Most of those frogs live in Florida.

The bill will still need to have good legs to hop onto the Governor's desk.

Governor Rick Scott hasn't barked out any word if he will approve the bill or send it back to the swamp.
