TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — Florida saw a substantial drop in hate crimes last year.
Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi said in 2013 there were 124 reported hate crimes.
A report from her office released Wednesday shows that hate crimes declined by more than a third in 2013 compared to 2012.
The report says that more than half of the hate crimes reported last year were related to race.
More than a quarter of the hate crimes were related to sexual orientation.
Religion played a role in about 1 in 9 hate crimes, and national origin was a factor in 1 out of 14 crimes.
Actions against people made up under two-thirds of the hate crimes, and property crimes made up more than a third of the hate crimes.
