State Officials: Elevated Risk Of Rip Currents Through Sunday
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — May want to stay out of the water this weekend as state officials say there's an elevated risk of rip currents along Florida's Atlantic coast.
The moderate to high risk of rip currents are expected to last through Sunday. Areas affected extend from Miami-Dade County north through Nassau County, according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
GUIDE: How To Escape A Rip Current
Director Bryan Koon says persistent onshore winds and high waves are contributing to the rip currents.
Beachgoers should be aware that red flags on beaches indicate dangerous swimming conditions.
