State Attorney's Office Declines Charges Against Fmr. Coach
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – The State Attorney's Office has declined to charge a former teacher at the Broward Christian School in Plantation who was allegedly recruiting adult and juvenile females for sex trafficking.
Police said James Sylvester Ross, 63, was arrested on February 5.
Ross was accused of luring young girls and women into prostitution, possibly beginning years ago when he was a coach. Police were tipped off when a woman said he approached her and told her to call him coach.
Ross was released from jail after spending a month behind bars.
The State Attorney's Office has not commented on the decision, but the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department released this statement.
"The Fort Lauderdale Police Department disagrees with the conclusion made by Assistant State Attorney Dennis Nicewander in regards to the case involving defendant James Ross. Our agency considers this a very active investigation and will be requesting the State Attorney's Office to re-review this case in its entirety."
