State Attorney To Reveal New Evidence In Jail Explosion
PENSACOLA (CBSMiami/AP) - New evidence regarding an explosion at a Pensacola jail will be presented to a grand jury and it might blow the case wide open.
State Attorney Bill Eddins said that his office, state investigators and federal authorities have found new evidence revealing a crime was committed. The grand jury will begin considering the case on Sept. 30.
It was first reported that the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak. It left a corrections officer paralyzed, two inmates dead and nearly 200 others injured.
Inmates at the prison reportedly smelled gas hours before the explosion occurred.
Eddins has said criminal negligence charges are possible.
