Starks Sings Franchise Tender
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – While he could have held out into training camp, Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Randy Starks has instead signed his franchise tender and accept a one-year, fully-guaranteed contract worth more than $8 million.
The move was announced late Tuesday along with two other moves involving bench players for the Dolphins. Both quarterback Pat Devlin and cornerback R.J. Stanford also signed their exclusive rights tenders as well.
Starks was designated a franchise player shortly before free agency began and overall has played in 140 games with 103 of those games as a starter. Last year, Starks started al 16 games and made his second Pro Bowl while finishing the year with 27 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and one interception.
Devlin has been the team's third-team quarterback for the past few seasons, but didn't play at all in 2012. Stanford will be playing his third season in the league after the Fins claimed him off waivers at the beginning of last September.
