Stanton's Rehab From Hamstring Problem Going Slowly
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins continue to put up miserable numbers this season and could use a big shot-in-the-arm from slugger Giancarlo Stanton. However, Stanton isn't close to rejoining the major league roster.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Stanton has had to back off of his rehabilitation due to soreness in his knees. Stanton has been battling injuries for most of the season, which is not helping the Marlins or his trade value this year.
Stanton is arguably the only star left on the Marlins roster after the off-season purge of salaries. But, he's only managed to play in 20 games this season and is only hitting .227 with 3 home runs and nine RBI's.
Without Stanton in the lineup, the Marlins have zero punch in the batting order and that's contributed to the nine-game losing streak the team is currently on. The Marlins are 3-17 over their last 20 games.
For the Marlins, they will trade Stanton eventually as the team has done with all quality talent it develops like Miguel Cabrera. But, with Stanton out of the lineup and struggling this season overall, his trade value is down which could keep him in town at least through this season.
