Stanton Placed on 15-Day Disabled List
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins were depending on Giancarlo Stanton to carry the squad during the rebuilding year of 2013. But Stanton will be out at least two weeks after straining his right hamstring in Monday night's win against the New York Mets.
Stanton was hurt in the 10th inning of the 4-3 victory over the Mets. He hit a slow roller in front of home plate and clutched his right hamstring as he ran over first base trying to beat the throw.
Stanton then went down in a heap and began to pound the grass in anger. He eventually got up and limped off the field.
The Marlins were hoping Stanton would be able to continue his improved play as of late. He had shaken off an early season slump and hit three home runs over the weekend. For the season, Stanton is hitting just .227 with three home runs and nine RBI's.
