Spring Football Just Around The Corner
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – If you're already going through football withdrawal, there's some good news just around the corner as spring football is getting ready to get underway next month.
In the Atlantic Coast Conference, the University of Miami will kick off its spring practice on March 3 and will end with a scrimmage on April 14. UM will be in the second year of the Al Golden-regime and will welcome in several early enrollees to the program in the spring.
Up the road in Tallahassee, Florida State will enter the 2012 season with sky-high expectations after a solid finish and a second-straight stellar recruiting class. Senior quarterback E.J. Manuel will be back for the Noles when they start practice March 19 and finish with the Garnett & Gold game on April 14.
The University of Florida is in the second full year of the Will Muschamp regime. The first year was a disappointment overall and UF will be breaking in a new offensive coordinator this season. UF hasn't said when spring practice starts, but it will end with the spring game on April 7.
Carl Pellini will kick off his inaugural season as the head coach of the Owls of Florida Atlantic on March 19. Pelini takes over for legendary coach Howard Schnellenberger, but the program is in shambles after a horrid 2011 season. FAU will hold its spring game April 14 at the new FAU Stadium.
Once the spring games are over, college football will hit it's dead period from April to roughly mid-to-late July when fall practices begin.
