Sports Agenda for Tuesday (9/4/12)
Big Story:
A heckuva weekend of college football with a definitive statement on who is the number 1 team in the country and now it's time for the NFL to get rolling. Football season is fully launched as of Thursday!

College Football:
First up let's see how I did with my picks of the weekend.
Michigan State over Boise State (win); NC State over Tennessee (loss); Notre Dame over Navy (win); Nebraska over Southern Miss (win); Clemson over Auburn (win); Ohio U over Penn State (win); Georgia over Buffalo (win); Florida over Bowling Green (win); FSU over Murray State (win); Miami over Boston College (win); LSU over North Texas (win); Oregon over Arkansas State (win); Mizzou over SE La. (win); Louisville over Kentucky (win); Duke over FIU (win); Alabama over Michigan (win)
15-1 overall. (Damn NC State)
Not a bad way to start off the season if I may say so myself.
Now, on to what I saw this weekend.
Oklahoma State just scored another touchdown.
Alabama is undoubtedly the number one team in the country, bar none, period, end of story.
USC is overrated
Miami's Duke Johnson is really, REALLY good.
Missouri's Sheldon Richardson needs to keep his mouth shut with Georgia coming to town.
FSU lost a HUGE piece of their defensive line in Brandon Jenkins, but next man up could be even better.
FIU is in for a long season.
Miami has no defense to speak of.
South Carolina has some offensive problems, as does Washington State
Boise State will come back to earth this year after several years of great play.
If Penn State plays like they did in the second half of the Ohio game the rest of the year, they may not win another game.
Florida's a tad overrated.
Oklahoma State just scored another touchdown.
Louisville is way overrated at number 25.
What happened to Oregon's defense? 34 points to Arkansas State?
Alabama is really that good as is Nick Saban. (and yes, it's pains me to say that)
Oklahoma State just scored again.
So what do we have to look forward to this weekend?
Well, the one game I'll be watching will be Georgia visiting Missouri.
Yes, I'm a homer, but I have a funny feeling about this game for Mizzou.
We also have Miami going to K-State, ruh-roh, no one may score there.
Penn State going to Va. to start out 0-2.
Florida visiting Texas A&M (early pick FLORIDA)
Whatever the over/under is for FSU vs. Savannah State take the OVER
A Bowden visits FIU stadium.
Not bad, not too bad at all.
Miami Dolphins:
The goal for Week 1 should be simple…outscore the Marlins.
Given the Marlins scored 7 last night, that might be asking too much for this group of players.
Quick, which one do the Dolphins have more of…quarterbacks or cornerbacks?
According to the official online roster, it's a tie with 4 each.
When your nickel cornerback is Nolan Carroll, it's going to be a long season.
The Fins currently have Olivier Vernon as the chief backup to Cam Wake….not sure I like that, I'd rather have Vernon developing opposite Wake to really get a pass rush going.
The Fins face the Houston Texans this weekend, and Houston will be good, but I think they're really going to miss having Winston out at right tackle.
That said, they should be easily able to run on Miami, everyone else has to this point.
So here's how bad the Fins offense could be….Anthony Armstrong, a former practice squad guy, was the Fins' big signing over the weekend.
Oh, and Brian Hartline, yeah, he's running third team behind Marlon "stone hands" Moore.
And third round pick Michael Egnew? Yeah, he still can't learn how to block or get any separation. Looks like the curse of the Mizzou tight end strikes again.
Here's your question: who scores the first touchdown for the Dolphins this year?
I'm going to go with….Bush or Fasano, mainly because I don't think anyone else can get the ball in the end zone.
But I digress.
Marlins: (vs. Brewers)
Great seats are still available for the Marlins….or the Dolphins…..or the Panthers….just not the Heat.
Miami won last night over the Brewers, so that's good.
They're still in dead last place by 4 full games, so that's bad.
Giancarlo Stanton leads the team in hitting, home runs and RBI's while Jose Reyes leads in runs and stolen bases.
Speaking of, congrats to Reyes for his 400th steal of his career.
The duo now hits 3-4 in the lineup, which is kinda interesting because Reyes doesn't have typical three-spot power, but he's a good .300 hitter.
Next year, Miami will have a fully healthy Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, and Ricky Nolasco as the top 3 pitchers…assuming of course Johnson doesn't get traded.
Maybe there's hope for the Marlins in the future?
At least until Loria says to cut payroll….again.
