Sports Agenda For Tuesday (3/15/11)
Big Story:
Hmmm….let's see the Spurs beat the snot out of the Heat a few weeks ago and then the Heat beat the snot out of Spurs last night. What have we learned? Honestly, not much.
It's beginning to look like Chris Bosh may have been on to something when he said the offense should go through him. Ever since then, the Heat have been playing lights out and Wade and LeBron have something in the tank near the end of the game. I even saw the Heat bench starting to produce a wee bit of production from the bench.
Still, what's good is LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, all played less than 42 minutes and the Heat still beat the Spurs like a government mule. It's really been impressive to watch Bosh who finally looks like he's getting it.
There's zero NFL news because of the lockout, the Marlins have score all of three runs since last Friday, and the NCAA is nigh.
Heat:
Well, now that's what we expected from the Heat. A dominating performance from the Big Three stomped a mudhole and walked it dry versus the Spurs. I mean, that was a true slobberknocker there. (Sorry, I'm channeling my inner Jim Ross.)
So now the Heat turn their attention to the fourth seed in the west, the Oklahoma City Thunder. It will be the toughest test yet for Chris Bosh when he tangles with Kendrick Perkins. LeBron will have to guard Kevin Durant, so we'll see just how good the Heat's defense is when they want to play.
NFL Labor:
Yeah, no news is bad news here. Two sides, separated by hundreds of millions of dollars arguing over how to divvy up $9 billion while the rest of us work without salary increases (state workers) and more work (everyone). Pardon me while I grab the world's smallest violin for these two sides.
Panthers:
Wait, they won on Saturday? Stop the freaking presses. Next thing you know, the Lions will be in the Super Bowl, or the Hurricanes will be threatening a conference title.
NCAA:
The NCAA tournament kicks off in earnest tonight. We are treated to UAB versus Clemson and VCU versus USC. Take Clemson and VCU for the victories. Tomorrow we are treated to the always exciting Texas San Antonio versus Alabama State and NC Asheville versus UArk- Little Rock. Take UTSA and UALR.
