Sports Agenda for Tuesday (2/14/12)

Big Story:
It's Valentine's Day so we'll show some love to the Heat; the Panthers stay in first place; and today is truly a great day thanks to Sports Illustrated!
When my valentine asked what I wanted….I said….more sports…..and other things that can't be mentioned in print.

Miami Heat: (@ Indiana Pacers, 7 p.m., Sun Sports/NBATV)
So do you think the Heat are a little sick of "Fear the Deer?"
Yeah, about the Bucks having the Heat's number.
Ouch.
LeBron scored 35 and shot better than 70 percent from the field while taking more than 20 shots.
The Heat's blowout let me watch some college ball last night, which was actually decent with the Sunflower Showdown of Kansas vs. Kansas State.
But back to the Heat.
I knew it was ugly when Eddy Curry got into the game for more than 2-3 minutes.
When Curry's in, the Heat have the game in hand or someone needs to get fouled hard.
But yeah, that was about as dominating a back-to-back performance as the Heat have had this season.
They have one more game tonight and then have three days off until Friday's game at Cleveland.
I think the Heat can do it again tonight.
Spo has been managing the minutes masterfully so far during this road trip and it's coming up roses for him on the scoreboard.
Seriously, the way the Heat have played in the last two games, no one in the NBA could have beaten them.
As they said in Major League, "Starting to come together."
The scary part of this team is that they really don't know how good they can be if everyone is dialed in at the same time.
We've seen flashes, typically with the Big Five on the floor.
But I'm encouraged with what the bench has given them, which I think was at least 30 points last night.
It's allowing the Big Three to rest up for the stretch run in March/April as the team turns its attention to the playoffs.
By the way, anyone want to bet that Friday's game is ugly?
Only thing I wonder is if Cavs owner Dan Gilbert will write another letter apologizing to Cleveland fans after this season.
If he does, I hope he uses Comic Sans typeface…it's so bad that it fits him and Cleveland perfectly.

Linsanity Update:
Ah yes, leave it to an overranked boxer to call out the elephant in the room on Jeremy Lin.
Floyd Mayweather, who has made his name by being an obnoxious, overrated boxer, said the hype surrounding Jeremy Lin of the Knicks is about race.
Well, that may be true, but let's also remember….
Unlike Floyd Mayweather, Lin is facing anyone who is in his way and is putting up great numbers.
Until Mayweather fights everyone and can keep his dumb &*# out of prison, then he really doesn't need to say anything.
Thanks for setting back the conversation Mayweather…enjoy your time in prison.

Panthers: (off, next game Wednesday vs. Ottawa)
Not much to say about the Panthers today other than, hey we're still in first place!
How about that!
The Cats need to finish February strong with I'd say at least 3-4 more wins to really be in perfect position come March for the final month of the regular season.
Then, it's on to the true pursuit of Lord Stanley's Cup.
Who'd have thunk the Cats would have been in this position at this point in the season?
Probably only Dale Tallon, cause I know I sure as heck didn't.

NFL Update:
Well, we saw wide receiver Randy Moss announced he wants to come back to the NFL next season.
Interesting to say the least.
If he's still got his speed, which is a big if, he's still a very dangerous weapon on the outside.
Course if he's still in the frame of mind he was in when last we saw him on an NFL field, it doesn't matter at all.

Finally…
On this day when we men are overwhelmed with the Valentine's rush and all of the flowers, cards, jewelry, chocolate, etc. Sports Illustrated saves us men with the delivery of the annual swimsuit issue.
This one features a local girl on the cover, well, she's from Melbourne, Florida, but we'll claim her anyways.
Of course, if you see the cover, she may as well not be wearing a swimsuit.
And for that, the men of America salute you Sports Illustrated and Kate Upton.
