Sports Agenda for Thursday (2/10/11)
Big Story:
Not much going on locally in the sports world, although the Hurricanes basketball team finally got off the schnide and won a game on the road.
So, why don't we talk about the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Bwahahahaha.....*deep breath*....hahahahaha.
Heat:
The Heat are enjoying a few days off after Tuesday's victory over the Pacers. The Heat's next game will see them travel to Detroit Rock City to take on the struggling Pistons. Detroit sports a 20-33 record and how they won 20 is beyond me. Well, they do get to play the Cavaliers who have just 8 more victories than the Webteam has in the NBA this year.
LeBron is hitting MVP form, you can read more here. And D-Wade is starting to warm up for the stretch run after the All-Star break. Still, there's a lingering doubt in my mind about how Miami will fare in a series against a star point guard and decent big man. Luckily for the Heat, only Boston has that combination.
Dolphins:
Well, it's the off-season, so we'll retitle this the NFL Labor update.
Right now, the two sides have agreed to meet again and this is important. They're still having an open dialogue and hopefully, they'll continue to meet and work towards avoiding a lockout.
Still, there are sticking points namely dividing up the revenue and a possible 18-game season.
The players are against the 18-game season, even though they already train for and play a minimum of 20 games a year including the preseason. So they're argument is weak coming out of the gates.
Fun Dolphins fact: according to some websites, the Houston Texans have better odds of winning next year's Super Bowl than the Miami Dolphins!
Marlins:
T-Minus 7 days until pitchers and catchers report for spring training.
The Pirates are now on the clock for the number one pick in next year's MLB draft.
Panthers: vs. Buffalo Sabres (7:30 p.m. Fox Sports Florida)
The Panthers take to the ice in the Bank Atlantic Center again Thursday night looking to knock off the Sabres. The game will give Florida a chance to pull another game closer to the Sabres who currently sit in 10th place in the Eastern Conference. Of course if the Panthers lose, they're only one game out of 12th place so we'll see what they can do.
But on the bright side, the Bank Atlantic Center will finally see someone successful when it welcomes the Prince of Darkness Ozzy Osbourne to the arena on the 20th.
Wouldn't it be cool to hear…."ALL ABOARD THE ZAMBONI TRAIN..HAHAHAHA"…..okay, it sounded better in my head than it did when I wrote it.
