Sports Agenda For Monday (1/10/11)

Big Story:
Well, hopefully you weren't like me last night and gave up on the Heat before the end of the fourth quarter. The Heat staged a furious comeback led by LeBron James and kept their road winning streak alive against a very game Portland TrailBlazers team. LeBron poured in 44 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists. LeBron hit two late three point shots and then buried two free throws to lift the Heat to victory. The Heat now have a 13 game road winning streak and play next at the Clippers on Wednesday night.
James and company play the Clippers Wednesday, Denver on Thursday, and the Bulls On Saturday. If they win out, they will tie the all-time NBA road winning streak.

Dolphins:
Well, after all of that last week, the Dolphins have their coach for the next two years. Or until Stephen Ross gets bored and wants to pack up the family truckster to head to Wally World to find a new coach.
Now, all eyes turn towards the offensive coordinator position. The Fins are in desperate need of an offensive coordinator who can bring some excitement back to the passing game and open up the offense. This will be difficult for Sparano, who is a smashmouth run the football type of coach.
Some have floated the name of Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator. This will not happen. McDaniels and Dolphins defensive coordinator Mike Nolan DID NOT get along in Denver and Nolan eventually quit because of it. Nolan is much too valuable to the Dolphins for them to risk his happiness by bringing in McDaniels.
Hey, if they wanted to have fun, they could always call up Auburn's offensive coordinator and draft Cam Newton!
Panthers:
Well, so much for the Panthers being hot. The Panthers have lost three in a row after playing some inspired hockey to begin the year. The Panther slost 3-2 to the Capitals on Saturday in DC. But, The Panthers are still sitting in 11th place, but that's only because the standings are being listed alphabetically.
The Panthers hit the ice again on Tuesday night to play the same Capitals team that beat them on Saturday. The Capitals are currently in 5th place in the Eastern Conference.
Marlins:
39 days until pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training.
College:
Football recruiting has 22 days left and the Gators and Seminoles are sitting pretty. The Canes, well, not so much. They have former USC and current Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll's son in charge of recruiting, but so far, he is not showing much of his father's ability to land the top talent. Of course he's only been on the job for a few weeks, so we'll have to give him a year to see what happens.
The good part for the Canes is that they have plenty of talent that had never been coached up on how to be good players. We'll see what Golden and company can do with great players.
Basketball wise, UM dropped their second straight ACC game, losing at Clemson. FSU lost their first ACC game to Virginia Tech, and the Florida Gators won their first SEC game this year, knocking off the Mississippi Rebels.
