Spirit Staying In S. Florida For Next Decade
MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – Spirit Airlines announced Friday that it plans to stay in South Florida for the foreseeable future.
The low-cost air carrier signed a new lease for its headquarters at 2800 Executive Way in Miramar for another decade. The company also signaled it was expanding operations into nearby office space in the Miramar Park of Commerce.
Once completed, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Spirit Airlines will have more than 70,000 square feet of space in Commerce Park. Spirit has been in South Florida since moving from Detroit in 1999.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, the airline employs more than 1,300 people in South Florida and had revenue of $1.4 billion in 2012.
