Special 'Late Show' To Follow Super Bowl On CBS
NEW YORK (CBS) - CBS announced today that a live edition of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" will be broadcast immediately following "Super Bowl 50" on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City. The Colbert-hosted "Late Show" will be the first late night series to ever run an episode directly after the Super Bowl.
Not to be outdone, a special edition of "The Late Late Show With James Corden" will then air after the local news.
"It's been a very big year in late night at CBS," said CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller. "We're extremely proud of our two new late night franchises, and we're thrilled to give Stephen and James this big Super Bowl Sunday showcase."
Past years have seen CBS programs like "Survivor," "Elementary" and "Criminal Minds" take the coveted post-football slot.
Colbert debuted on CBS back in September and now averages more than 3 million viewers -- plus many more episode streams online. Corden started his CBS show in March and averages more than 1 million viewers an hour later, again with more online buzz.
CBS Sports culminates its coverage of the 2015-2016 NFL season with "Super Bowl 50" on Sunday, Feb. 7 (6:00 PM, ET) from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. "Super Bowl 50" will be the Network’s 19th Super Bowl broadcast overall.
