Sparano Thankful For Ross' Support
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Two days after his team dropped to 0-4 on the season, Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano met with the media amidst intense speculation about his job security.
Monday, Fins owner Stephen Ross said that Sparano is the right guy to be leading the Dolphins. The dreaded vote of confidence is many times followed by the coach getting dismissed.
But Sparano wasn't worried about his job security or the job security of anyone else when he was asked for a response on what Ross had to say by CBS4's Jim Berry.
"I really appreciate what Steve had to say, but really, my sole focus right now is getting this thing turned around and going in the right direction," Sparano said. "I don't have anything else to say."
Still, fans are angry over the desolate state the Dolphins have been in since 2007 and are ready for the whole front office and coaching staff to be imploded. But, so far, Ross has resisted making any wholesale changes thus far.
The other big question surrounding the Dolphins is the state of quarterback Chad Henne's injured shoulder. NFL.com reported earlier Tuesday that Henne's shoulder could possibly cost him the rest of the regular season.
Sparano was tight-lipped about the injury, even as Henne was seeking a second-opinion on the shoulder this week.
"We don't have to give out injury report until Jets week," Sparano said about Henne's shoulder.
Sparano said that the bye week will give them time to get some players healthy and work on the good and the bad of the first quarter of the season.
"We are looking for good and bad, it's important to show the players good and there are plenty of things that are good," Sparano said. "I think we have to focus on the bad. As I approached today, these next 3 days are going to be hard. We're going to hear things we don't like to hear. We're here for a reason and we have to get ourselves better."
