South Floridians Remember Joan Rivers

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Amid her passing, some of the people she touched in South Florida remember Joan Rivers fondly.

She was a guest on the Paul and Ron show recently as she was promoting her new book.

"Well he's lucky because he's not the funny," said Rivers while on the show.

Rivers lead a squad of four fashion critics on E!'s Fashion Police show since 2012.
The show won her many new young fans which she affectionately called "Joan Rangers."

"People that come to see me are so young, that's it's amazing, and I think it's all due to the fashion police," said Rivers.

At 81-years-old, she had been around for fixture on the comedy scene for many years.

"She opened up all the doors to female comedy," said radio host Paul Castronovo

Rivers was one of the country's first successful female comics, paving the way for many to come.

Castronovo interviewed Rivers many times on his local comedy radio show.

"I think she was just about the joke. She was just about the funny, and she wasn't afraid to go after anybody," said Castronovo.

Rivers appeared at the Hard Rock many times throughout the years. Her most recent appearance was in May 2012.

The hard rock tweeted, "Thanks for the grace, class and so many laughs.
Tons of great memories with you here. You'll be dearly missed. Rest in peace Joan Rivers."
