MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The South Florida temperature swing is underway as two cold fronts replace the warm winter sunshine.
The cold snap will provide South Florida with a reality check that the winter season is still with us all, not just the northeast where lately record-breaking temperatures and snow totals seem to be the norm.
The week started off balmy and then Tuesday's highs hit 83-degrees at Miami International Airport--the normal high this time of year is 78-degrees with a low of 63.
One cold front, as of Wednesday morning, had made its way to South Florida. The second, stronger cold front as of early Wednesday afternoon was located across parts of the mid-south into the Ohio River Valley and will move into the panhandle Wednesday night into early Thursday.
Wednesday's high temperature has already come and gone, hitting around 72-degrees around midnight on the thermometer at MIA. Temperatures will continue to fall throughout Wednesday into the lower 60s and 50s by the early evening hours.
Thursday and Friday morning will be even colder, with temperatures dipping into the upper 30s and lower 40s.
The temperature will rebound just in time for the weekend, with overnight lows in the 50s and 60s and highs back into the 70s.
